The Beer Runners initiative unites two fundamental aspects of our Mediterranean culture: physical activity and the social act of sharing a beer. Thus, at the end of the race, all participants will enjoy some beers and some tapas as a reward after the exercise.
Participating in the race is very simple. The only requirement is that all enrollees be of legal age.
In addition, anyone who wants to can collaborate with the Food Bank by delivering all kinds of non-perishable foods (preserves, legumes, pasta, rice, oil, sugar, salt, children's food products, etc.) or hygiene products, before the race next to the collection of bibs.
Beer Runners, much more than running ...
Beyond racing, the Beer Runners spirit has spread to different cities, through local Beer Runners groups, people who organize their meetups through social media, go for a run every week, and after exercise enjoy some beers and some tapas in company. In Catalonia there are groups at different points such as Tarragona, Barcelona or Girona.
This movement arose in Philadelphia, United States, from the hand of David April , a lover of active life and beer who wanted to combine these two concepts. Currently the Beer Runners community has more than 28,000 members distributed by 78 local groups that organize themselves through social networks to go out for a run and share good times with some tapas and a beer, always in a moderate way.
So far 27 Beer Runners races have been held in different Spanish cities , in which more than 37,000 people have participated. The rest of the Beer Runners races will be announced soon
