Whether you are contemplating running your first half marathon or smashing your personal best, the Edinburgh Half Marathon is an unmissable opportunity to be part of Scotland’s largest running festival: the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. The Edinburgh Half Marathon will take place on September 6th, 2020 in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh, just a few hours before the marathon.

The Edinburgh Half Marathon’s course could just as well be a sight-seeing itinerary, going through the heart of Edinburgh, past the Scottish Parliament and even dropping by the oldest golf course in the world! Besides the fast, downhill 21-kilometer route and the unique Scottish atmosphere, the Edinburgh Half Marathon is also the opportunity to run for a good cause and raise both funs and awareness in favor of local charities through the Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event has sold out every year since 2012 so do not miss your chance and book your ticket now! And if a half-marathon sounds like too much to chew, there are plenty of other distances to choose from! See you on September 6th!

Starting in Potterrow, on the grounds of the University of Edinburgh, one of the oldest in the world, the Half Marathon goes through the heart of the Edinburg, past the famous Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish National Gallery and down the Royal Mile in front of the Scottish Parliament. The track then heads east towards the coast to leave behind the Royal Park and the Palace of Holyrood. Upon reaching the coast, the runners will pass the Old Golf Course of Musselburgh and head into the historic village of Preston Pans to cross the finish line in the front of Pinkie School.

This fast, downhill course features an almost 90-meter descent from start to finish and should ensure an easy first experience or a personal record. Plenty of supply stations will be giving out water and energy supplies to runners along the course. Shuttles will be available at the finish to bring the competitors back to the start line.
