Following the preventive measures taken against the spread of COVID-19 (better known as coronavirus), the Granfondo Espace Cycles, originally scheduled for May 24th, 2020 had to be canceled and postponed to May 23rd, 2021.

Despite this unfortunate cancellation in 2020, the date of the 8th edition of the Grandfondo Espace Cycles is already set for Sunday, May 23rd, 2021, in Étalle, Belgium. The Granfondo Espace Cycles is a cycling competition welcoming trained cyclists of all levels and supporting local charities. Two routes between the French and Luxembourg borders are waiting for the participants of this 8th edition:

  • Granfondo 125, a technical course with more than 1,600 meters of vertical climb over 13 hills with slopes between 3 and 10%
  • Granfondo 168, a demanding route of 168 kilometers and 2,400 meters of elevation climb spread out over 19 hills

Climbers and endurance cyclists are expected in numbers, from all over Belgium but also France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. They expect to enjoy the sublime routes through the province of Luxembourg so come join them on May 23rd, 2021 and live an unforgettable experience in Étalle!

Travel

The Granfondo Espace Cycles routes will start and end in the center of Étalle, near the sports and cultural complex. They will also share a common route on the first 95 kilometers of the races.

After a departure to the west, the common route will link the villages of Vance, Buzenol, Gomery, Mussy, Willancourt and Haut-des-Loges in a 40-kilometer loop. Once back in Vance, the cyclists will begin a second loop northwest of Étalle. The common route will first head to Nobressart, then Wissenbach before facing a 10% slope at the exit of Fauvilliers and then separating at Léglise.

The 125-kilometer route will complete its loop through Marbehan, Ansart, Bellefontaine and Red Cross before crossing the finish line in Étalle. The 168-kilometer route will complete a wider loop through Suxy, Chiny, Martue, Florenville, Orval, Gerouville, Villiers-la-Loue, Berchiwe and Red Cross, before reaching the finish line in Étalle.
