A biennial race since 2008, the 20th edition of the Trofeo Kima will take place on August 30th, 2020, in Val Masino, in the Italian province of Sondrio if the sanitary restrictions allow it.
For the past 20 years, the Trofeo Kima has been an iconic, major sky running event for experienced sky runners around the world and as such, hosts around 250 world-class athletes on its 52-kilometer course over seven mountain passes. Kilian Jornet, winner of the 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2018 editions describes the Trofeo Kima as “the most spectacular race in the world”.
Part of the Skyrunner World Series, the race itself is a mixture of steep slopes, rocky terrain and ledges, fixed ropes and snow combined with strong elevation differences and altitudes above 2,500 meters so experience, endurance and dedication are required to participate and complete the race.
See you in Val Masino on August 30th, 2020 for a breath-taking run between sky and mountain!
The Trofeo Kima is a 52-kilometer sky race featuring 4,200 meters of elevation difference and a maximum elevation of 2,950 meters above sea level. Numerous aid stations offering medical assistance and energy supplies will be scattered over the course.
The Trofeo Kima starts from the Centro Polifunzionale della Montagna in Filorera and heads up immediately towards the Bocchetta Roma at 2,894 meters above sea level on marked paths through the Refugio Scotti, Pedra Rossa and the Refugio Ponti. From the Bocchetta Roma, the track goes back down to the Bivacco Kima before climbing back up to the Passo del Cameraccio over hard rocks. After encountering some snow on its way, the course links up a succession of passes: Passo Val Torrone, Passo Averta, Passo Qualido and Passo Camerozzo with some fixed rock sections before heading to the Refugio Gianetti on high-pasture trails. From the refuge, competitors will slowly make their way down to Barbacan, the Refugio Omio, Bagni Masino and San Marino before crossing the finish line located in Filorera.
