As a result of the preventive actions against COVID-19 (better known as coronavirus), the Marmotte Granfondo Alpes has had to modify its date, and postpone the event until September 5, 2020.


Like every first week of July, the legendary Marmotte Granfondo Alpes cycle tour arrives , one of the most renowned cycling routes on the international scene and, of course, the most important march in the Alps after the Tour de France. 174 kilometers , 21 curves and 5,000 meters of unevenness in which 7,500 participants from 50 countries dare to pedal through this hard journey through the French Alps.

In addition to the 174-kilometer Marmotte Granfondo Alpes , the organization offers the possibility of doing the same route in two days divided into 98 kilometers and 76 kilometers with the Rando Marmottes Alpes . On the other hand, there is also the possibility of doing the Grimpée de l'Alpe d'Huez , with 13 km of ascent and 1,100 meters of accumulated positive elevation gain.

  • Marmotte Granfondo Alpes

The Marmotte Granfondo Alpes begins at dawn, in the heart of the village of Bourg d'Oisans . After ten flat kilometers, the first difficulty appears at the Glandon Pass (1,924 m). A long and constant climb of 20 kilometers with passages greater than 10%.

 
After descending the ascent, it is a long recovery of the Maurienne Valley that awaits the participants. Saint Michel de Maurienne marks the beginning of the day's main route: Telegraph (1,570m) and Galibier (2,645m). The Valloire provisioning halfway allows recharging the batteries before attacking the majestic Galibier and the snow walls on the road. The descent, through the neck of Lautaret , to Bourg d'Oisans allows you to recover your strength a little.
 
The 21 curves of the Alpe d'Huez mark the maximum difficulty of the day. And no less, since it is a real challenge that awaits cyclists with the first 2 corners at an average of 13%. Once the finish line is crossed, a mix of excitement, fatigue, and sometimes pain, but most of all satisfaction and pride, can be seen on the faces of the finalists.
 
  • Rando Marmottes Alps
 
The Rando Marmottes Alpes is carried out in 2 stages over 2 days by classic bicycle or electric bicycle.
 
First, 98 kilometers and 2,700 meters in vertical drop, the first day will take place from Bourg d'Oisans to Valloire with the ascent of the Col du Glandon and the Col du Télégraphe . After a restful night in Valloire , on the second day you can face the serenity of Col du Galibier , Le Lautaret , then the final climb in the Alpe d'Huez is 76 kilometers and 2500md +
 
Alone, in groups, with a club, friends and accessible from the age of 14 (minors must always be accompanied by an adult) the Valloire stage and the split into 2 parts for the ascent to the Col du Galibier will allow you to discover without so many demands the mythical course of the Alps Marmot Granfondo .
 
The Rando Marmotte Alpes , are two days of pure pleasure in cycling without the stress of time to appreciate the Oisans , Maurienne , Galibier and, of course, the Alpe d'Huez .
 
  • Grimpée Alpe d'Huez
From Bourg d'Oisans , at the foot of the Alpe and upon reaching the Sports Palace of Alpe d'Huez , pure climbers will measure the difficulty of finding the right pace to reach 13 kilometers of elevation and then descend by 1,100 meters of fall. vertical.
