Following preventive actions against COVID-19 (better known under the name of coronavirus), the 2020 edition of the Swimrunman Embrun Lac de Serre-Ponçon had to cancel the date of the event for this edition. Here is the organization's official press release
After the success of the first edition of Swimrunman Embrun Lac de Serre-Ponçon last year, the organization is back in force this year for a second edition which will take place on June 26 and 27, 2021 , in Embrun , around one of the largest lakes in Europe, Lake Serre-Ponçon . The Swimrunman Embrun is part of the Swimrunman France Series circuit, which includes two events in addition to those of Embrun and wins a champion in each of the categories offered:
- Sprint , an 11 kilometer course ; short but intense with 5 swimming and 6 running sections
- Classic , a 23-kilometer technical course with 4.3 kilometers of swimming and just over 19 kilometers of running
- Half, a demanding course over the mythical distance of the swimrun: 40 kilometers including 6.5 kilometers of swimming.
More than 700 biathletes are expected on the start lines to exceed their limits in pairs, in one of the most beautiful settings in France for swimrun. And if you do even more to convince yourself to participate in the adventure, entertainment and a special Swimrun Kids are also planned during this unique and festive weekend.
The Swimrunman Embrun offers three varied courses, as well as a test reserved for children wishing to discover the joys of swimrun:
The Sprint is an accessible and intense course of 11 kilometers to be done solo or in duet. It includes 10 transitions in total with 5 swimming sections for a total of 2.8 km of swimming and 6 sections of running over 8.2 km through the sumptuous landscapes of Embrun and the Ecrins Park. The course has approximately 290 meters of elevation gain and includes three refreshment stations.
- The Classic
The Swimrunman Classic is the intermediate distance of the event, with a 23 km course open to solo runners and pairs. The Classic starts on the Embrun lake and takes on the Chaulières and the Estrée ravine for about 750 meters of elevation gain over the 19.25 kilometers and 9 sections of running. the ordeal. There will also be 8 swimming sections for a swimming distance of 4.35 kilometers. Seven refueling stations will be positioned on the route.
- The Half
The mythical distance of the Swimrunman Embrun, the Half is a demanding event which requires perseverance, endurance and solidarity within your team. This 40-kilometer route follows that of the Classic for the first 20 kilometers or so, until the ascent of the Estrée ravine. But instead of going back to Embrun, the teams of this Half will then launch out on the attack of the Marquisat, on mythical paths for a cumulative elevation gain of more than 1,280 meters over a little more than 33 kilometers of running. The route also provides for crossing Serre-Ponçon lake four times for a cumulative swimming distance of 6.5 kilometers. Will you be a finisher?
- Kids Swimrunman
Events and distances suitable for children wishing to discover the joys of swimrun. The organization sets up three age categories between 6 and 15 years old, with distances depending on the capacities of each child. The oldest will decide on a course of 2,500 meters, including 500 meters of swimming.
